Proven Tips to Improve Your Efficiency

I was reading James Clear’s Book Atomic Habits’ when it hit my mind; I became conscious that I was unaware of all my daily habits. I had done personal development for years already, yet every time familiar information strikes my mind differently. I knew I needed to go through all my habits and eliminate the ones that didn’t serve my goals.

It’s Finally Time to Stop Multi-tasking

Everybody knows that multi-tasking is not the best way to accomplish things. However, we all know those people with 15 tabs open on their computer, which crashes during a PowerPoint presentation. I was one of those people. I used to think that was efficiency.

Doing multiple things at a time and being constantly interrupted disrupts your productive work and overloads your brain. The most efficient way is to close all extra tabs and concentrate on one task at a time.

Every day, define 1–3 core tasks you need to complete. These are not necessarily the most challenging or essential tasks. Instead, they are tasks you need to finish today to serve your goals best.

At first, your brains are attacked with desires for an interruption. You are urged to go and get a cup of coffee, check your phone or move something on your office table. Teach yourself to become a robot, blind your surrounding, and work on this task continuously before it’s 100% done.

Trick Your Brains to Like Difficult Things

The difference between successful and unsuccessful people is that successful people do the work that unsuccessful people don’t like to do. So despite living my dream as an entrepreneur, I have to do many things though I don’t like them.

I’ve learned to take small daily goals toward my bigger vision, and whenever I complete a task, I reward myself with a break. Then, after achieving bigger goals, I treat myself to a day off doing something fun.

I taught myself to be grateful for everything I have in my life, so I have learned to appreciate things I hated before. For example, when I go to a grocery store, I’m like a child in a candy shop, having the possibility to choose everything (healthy) that I want.

When I’m cleaning, I’m thankful I have a home and a place to stay. When I’m doing an unwanted business thing, I’m grateful for being able to be my own boss. When you change your attitude, it dramatically improves your ability to complete unwanted tasks.

Reward Yourself

I’ve learned to take small daily goals toward my bigger vision. First, I reward myself with a break, including coffee or tea, whenever I complete a task. Secondly, I can reward myself with spending 10 minutes on the phone after completing a task such as writing this blog.

It’s not the reward that provides us humans, the most satisfaction; it’s the time waiting for that reward. When you wait for a holiday, it can be the best time in your life. However, when it eventually happens, it can be a disappointment. That’s why associating your step with a reward makes you accomplish things more manageable and efficient.

Strong habits are straightforward yet challenging to follow. Share your daily routines with strong and weak ones, and write them down. Then, in every situation, become conscious of your habits and change those that do not serve your goals. Then, you can start the change today.

With Love,
