The Compound Effect of Your Daily Choices
Too many days in a row skipping your exercise. Too many unhealthy lunch choices. Grabbing your phone instead of concentrating on peace and self-development. Watching Netflix in a row instead of having a good night’s sleep. It’s all about choices. The same record of ‘You shouldn’t have’ becomes your reality creating emotions that make your mind become a ticking time bomb. A wrong choice one day after another starts an endless wheel of negative emotions that seems to have no end. Learning to take tiny steps and choosing healthier habits that nourish your mind, body, and soul leads to welfare and success.
Make the Change Easier
Falling into bad habits seems like an easier option. When you constantly allow yourself to fall into unhealthy temptations, your life gradually starts to go in the wrong direction, and everything becomes complicated. A bad diet, lack of exercise, and neglect of mental self-care lead to a bad attitude. Its destructive effects continue to grow.
Change only requires you to begin with tiny steps in your life. Go for a walk after work instead of having one beer or watching Netflix. Choose a healthy snack with your afternoon coffee. Replace consumption of negative news or scrolling your phone with a good book or listening to positive motivational audio.
Only minor changes have a significant effect in the long run. You can transfer your direction towards a healthy lifestyle as you have taught yourself bad habits. The consequence of your habits did not happen in one night. That is why you need to take time to reverse its effects and start gradually with patience until you see the good impact of solid habits in your life.
Create Routines That Work
All of us have the same amount of time. Without routines, your life becomes chaos. The more choices you need to make in your everyday life, the more possibilities you have to get sidetracked and make bad decisions. When you organize your life to be simple and have a clear structure in your everyday life, you realize that overwhelm and unhealthy choices decrease.
I have always exercised and tried to eat healthily, but sugar was my deadly sin. When I have chosen to live a healthy lifestyle, the less I feel tempted with unhealthy choices. I don’t want to make bad choices that can have me sidetracked. Every time I eat unhealthy food and relax from my daily routines, I feel it in my body. Because I want to feel the maximum energy in my life, I shock my body with sugar and a cheat meal only once in two weeks.
You need to find your own routines and system that makes you feel good about yourself and support your daily life but doesn’t feel like living in prison. The healthier choices you make in your life, the harder it becomes to slip on the wrong side. The beginning is always tricky, but you become thirsty for those good impacts when you teach your brains a better lifestyle.
Teach Yourself a Reward System
Have clear goals in your mind, where you want to go that day, week, and month. Create a reward system that brings you satisfaction whenever you achieve your goal. Don’t let yourself slip into temptations every time you see something shiny in front of you. When you celebrate your achievements after earning them, it gives you that needed gratification.
Treating yourself daily leads to anxiety and feeling disappointed in yourself. Everything changes when you teach yourself to do the work before having that reward. You are not confronted with deciding whether you should do something that you know is not good for you, but you know that you can collect your reward when you complete first that one thing.
All choices add on in your life. Whether it is your mind, body, or soul in question, starting with small steps, and choosing the proper habits, gradually changes everything in your life. You start with walking and see yourself running. You begin by skipping a pastry and enjoy an energizing apple. You refuse to take negative impact from outside and concentrate on nourishing your spirituality. One action at a time, take a shift towards an abundant and happier life.
