The Desire for the One More Thing Doesn’t Make You Happy
You’re sipping your morning coffee that tastes like a piece of heaven on a good day. Today, it turns into a bitter taste in your mouth as thinking about your issues brings grey clouds surrounding your mind. Too many thoughts are bombing you from all directions. You’re seeing on the horizon of your future that one thing that you want to achieve or have. After receiving your goal, you think you can be finally pleased with your life. Your achievements will turn into dust and disappear with the wind if you don’t find happiness in what is already inside you.
Illusion of Success
I wanted to be a lawyer, be successful, and have everything I thought would make me happy. I obtained my degree and climbed up those career ladders. No matter what I achieved in my life, nothing ever made me feel satisfied for a long time. The glory of promotions turned into everyday routines, salary raises melted into grown living expenses, and praises faded away, turning into an echo of uncertainty.
Before I started to concentrate on what was inside me, I was always missing something in my life. Self-development is about exploring yourself, gathering knowledge, and trying new things to make you grow as a person. Learning how to control your emotions and desires, and become disciplined to follow things in your life that makes you happy, makes a difference.
Letting go of my old self and all emotional and materialistic things attached to that personality, I found my way into a path figuring out my true purpose. When my ambition was concentrated on developing myself instead of wanting new things, I started to understand what true abundance is.
There is No One Last Thing
There is always one thing that we’re eager to receive. After you attain what you desire, that feeling of satisfaction quickly disappears like ash thrown in the wind. You’re not easily taken by the world’s storms if you have built your happiness for inner qualities and strength. We never get back for lost time, and things can never go how they were. However, everything can be even better when you find your inner strength to think differently.
This society has tricked us into wanting certain things and created this illusion that we need those things to be happy. This image of a perfect couple you see on Instagram or a perfect young person surrounded by money and beautiful people. When you see those things, it makes you want them too. Deep inside, you just want to feel happiness.
This social image is not reality, and it can be broken into pieces with one strike. What’s behind the picture is the truth about life. A life that is not easy for anyone. There are tears, fear, and limitations in all of our lives. We all come across difficulties, no matter what we show outside. Despite any issues that you come to face, everything can be controlled only through the way you’re thinking.
You Make Your Own Happiness
Living in lack only attracts lack. To be fully content and happy is not about just achieving or receiving things. It’s about learning to live in the moment and teaching yourself to feel gratitude and satisfaction. You can pursue new things and goals in your life but at the same time already feel content about what you have.
No person can make you happy if you’re not at peace with yourself and your past experiences. Holding on to any negative emotions and missing something that you have lost prevents you from seeing the future that you can have. The truth is that tomorrow is never sure. If you only live for what will happen one day, you’re missing opportunities that you have now.
If it is time to go today, explore your heart, and be honest about your feelings. Did you say those words you wanted to say, show that change you wanted to be, and live a life that was meant for you? If there is no conflict in the direction where you’re going, you have already found the right path. In contrast, you cannot hide from the truth that your inner says, and if you feel it’s haunting your mind, you can take action today to find true happiness in your life.
With Love,
